It is said that we are the architects of our
destinies. Each day of lives presents us
different opportunities to either get closer to the fulfillment of our dreams
or to destroy them.
I remember a classmate I had in my first year at the
Senior High School. He was always well
dressed and behaved to the extent that some of us started getting uncomfortable
with him. You couldn’t get him to do
anything wrong no matter how small. When
we got to our 2nd year, we found out that his behavior was being
influenced by his desire to become the Students’ Representative Council
President. He understood from the onset
that he had an appointment with destiny.
It is our foresight and conviction about what we want
to achieve in life that guide us in the decisions we make daily.
If I decide to cheat on my wife with another woman, an
opportunity will become available for me to do so. But because I know that I have an appointment
with destiny to become an influential pastor and a good example to many, I will
let that opportunity pass.
In Genesis Chapter 39, Joseph was presented with an
opportunity that many young men could have gladly taken advantage of.
I have read stories of how some young men and women
sleep with the spouses of their bosses because of financial and other favour
they could get.
But Joseph rejected this opportunity and chose to
suffer in prison because he understood that he had an appointment with destiny.
“What you are willing to walk away
from in the difficult seasons of your life today is what qualifies you to walk
into better opportunities prepared for you in the future.”
Live each day as one who has appointment with
destiny. Treat every encounter with
people as an opportunity to prove yourself to them that they can count on you
in the future.
Don’t let your present suffering influence you to take
a decision that will destroy your future.
Learn to endure difficult times because there is joy set before us just
as it was spoken concerning Jesus in Hebrews 12:2
Many people with great potentials are wasting away in
prison because they forgot that they had an appointment with destiny and acted
unwisely.
The future is glorious for you. You will have a lot of reason to smile in the
future. Always say to yourself, “I have
an appointment with destiny”.
