I became born again in the year 1999. In less than three months,
I started seeing into the realm of the spirit. In the same year I became born
again, my preaching and teaching ministry was birthed.
My prophetic ministry took a different dimension when I was just 3
months old as a Christian. I never knew anything about the prophetic but the
Spirit of the Lord started using me in different dimensions.
My desire to know more about God got me rooted
in my spiritual father’s church. I became a member of Prevailing Word Chapel –
the only church I have been a part of since I became born again.
Almost everything I know about life and
ministry is traceable to the life, the ministry and the teachings of my
Father, Rev. Ebo Assan. My
desire has always been to teach the word like my father. I remember at a
certain time in my Christian life I wanted to be called Junior Ebo Assan
because all I wanted to do was to be able to teach the word of God like him.
3. I
HAVE BEEN IN THE OFFICE OF THE PROPHET FOR 13 YEARS.
Even though I have been prophesying for 20 years, I have been in
the office of the prophet for 13 years and have pastored Spiritlife Revival
Ministries for 11 years.
In May 2006, the Lord called me into full time
prophetic ministry and set me in the office of the prophet. On Saturday 29th
September 2007, I was ordained into full time prophetic ministry by my
spiritual Father, Rev. Ebo K. Assan.
4. I HAVE NEVER TRAVELLED
OUTSIDE AFRICA
Ministry is the expression of the love of God for humanity. It
is bringing people into a relationship with Jesus Christ. Everyone is called to
fulfill a divine mandate. It is the pursuit of that mandate that culminates
into glory and testimony.
Every divine mandate also has specific
instructions attached to it. Your obedience to the divine instruction that
accompanies your calling is what differentiates you from others.
When I set off in full time ministry 13 years ago, there were several
international opportunities that opened for me. I remember an opportunity to
travel to the United Kingdom to start a new ministry there. One day, whilst I
was in prayer the Lord instructed me not to travel outside Africa for 16 years.
I immediately dropped what looked like an opportunity to obey the voice of God.
I learnt that, not every good opportunity is a God opportunity. So for the last
13 years, I have been obedient to this divine instruction not to travel outside
Africa until these 16 years are over.
5. I HAVE MADE MISTAKES
IN LIFE AND IN MINISTRY
Mistakes are actions, decisions or judgements that
produces an unwanted or unintentional
results.
Mistakes aren’t meant to define a person, mistakes can only have
a hold on someone when one decides not to learn from their own mistakes.
Mistakes most of the time are not intentional but they happen anyway every now
and then, but what can make the difference is, having a different approach and
mentality to what caused the mistake.
Over a period of 20 years as a preacher and 13
years in full time prophetic ministry, I have made mistakes that could have
ended my life and my ministry. I have made mistakes with how I handled the
people God brought my way. There were people even though they were good I
should not have brought them too close. I have made mistakes with some of the
guest ministers I brought into my life. Some of the mistakes are very personal
and they could have destroyed my life and my ministry.
I have learnt lessons through some of these
mistakes in life and ministry. I am becoming a better person as the days
progress.
6. I HAVE BENEFITED FROM THE ANOINTING,
THE GRACE, THE WISDOM, THE EXPERIENCE AND THE HELP OF PEOPLE
On your journey to significance, there are many things you will
need to make full proof of your calling. When God set you on the journey, you
are guaranteed of succeeding and becoming an example of possibility.
In the work of the ministry you are assured of the empowering
grace of the Holy Spirit. You can never succeed without absolute dependence on
the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit also work with and through people. So, one of
the essential elements you will need to succeed in ministry is the people
connection.
People are so important that without them your dreams will never
be interpreted into reality. No one can succeed all alone. Anyone who has made
it in an area of life has received human help.
One of the most important truths I have discovered is that, I
have everything I need to succeed in life and in ministry but the things I need
that I don’t have has been packaged and enveloped in someone close to me. The
ability to discern, recognize those who carry what I don’t have is the
beginning of a life of help and divine assistance.
I have benefited from the anointing, grace, wisdom and
experience of several people. Some of these people are not necessarily in
ministry. I have been helped by colleagues, people who look up to me and people
I look up to.
You can never succeed alone. You will need the right people to
succeed. The right people might not necessarily be good people.
The platform of
greatness becomes available and inevitably accessible when you encounter the
right people. There are people who have journeyed the path you are treading on,
know them and learn from them. Their experiences, mistakes and wisdom will
serve as a guiding principle to fulfilling your own destiny.
7. ABSOLUTE COMMITMENT TO GOD &
UNCOMMON OBSESSION WITH MY ASSIGNMENT.
Many have asked me questions on why I do the things I do. In the
course of 20 years of prophesying, 13 years in full time prophetic ministry and
11 years of pastoring, I have come to the conclusion that absolute dependence
on God, is the key to an enviable life and ministry.
Until you key into absolute dependence and total commitment to God, you will live a life of bitterness, offense, regrets and disappointment. Until you absolutely embrace God’s dependency, people, accusations, bad decisions, mistakes and other things can stop you from pursuing your calling.
Absolute commitment and dependence is knowing
God as the source of who you are and what you are called to do. It means being
ready to obey HIM even when you have to disobey and disappoint human beings.
Absolute commitment, dependence on God and
obsession with my assignment, is one of the keys that has helped me in life and
in ministry. I am absolutely committed to God and to my assignment that I do
not give people, structures and systems the place that must be given to Him and
my assignment.
My obsession with my assignment and the one
who has called me, makes me interpret every negative situation in the light of
today in order to predict the future. My mistakes and flaws do not hold me
captive!
In the past, I made mistakes, took foolish
decisions, acted immaturely but my obsession with God and my assignment helped
me learn the lessons and move on to make full proof of my life and ministry. I
do not allow my past to stop me or mistakes to mess me up; i am not scared of
the future but rather, i draw strength from God to fulfill my ministry.
I do not allow the success and achievements of
people to make me envious but rather, i see them as a means of drawing
inspiration for profitable and productive ministry. To me, what others have
done is a picture of what I can do and achieve.
I do not compete with men because I am
complete in God. My obsession with God and my assignment makes me see others as
partners in the fulfillment of divine agenda.
8. THE GREATEST SECRET THAT CHANGED MY LIFE
One of the greatest secrets I discovered that radically changed
my life, is the discovery of who I am in Christ, who I am in the world and what
I am called to do. Until you discover who you are and be determined to live in
line with that, you stand a chance of losing what you have, what you can become
and the impact of your influence in the world.
Without any doubt, God is the source of all things and the Holy
Spirit is a vital part of our lives. However, the most important person on the
surface of this earth you must discover is YOU! When you discover You, you will
never live to impress others or be in wait for their approval and acceptance,
before you live your full potentials.
If you do not discover who you are, you stand a chance of losing
what you have and what you can become. 20 years ago, I spent time discovering
me, what I have been given, who I am called to and what I can do. That
discovery changed my life!
When I discovered me, I placed Value on what I have been given.
Once I discovered the Value within me, I created a platform with what I have
been given. Today, by the grace of God, people are becoming what they ought to
become, because I discovered ‘Me’. No matter how intellectually capable you
are, no matter how knowledgeable you are, if your personality does not
synchronize with your performance, your performance might take you to a place
your personality will destroy.
There is no way you
can transform the world until your life is first transformed. True
transformation will start with you. Do not neglect yourself in your bid to
transform other people or the world. Take care of yourself first. In fact, you
can help others better when you take care of yourself. Focus on building
yourself. One of the greatest investments you can ever make is quality
investment in yourself.
I discovered that anything anyone has ever become is a picture
of what I can become. The Celebrities we celebrate today are being celebrated
because they discovered themselves.
9. HOW I LANDED IN THE CITY OF ACCRA WITH GHC4.60p, MY BIBLE & MY MOTHER’S BAG
I received the commission to go into full-time
ministry in May 2006. After waiting on God and having discussions with my
Spiritual father, I was released in September 2006 to start my ministry.
Staying or doing business in Accra had never been my desire but
whiles on a mission with my friend, Apostle Joshua Amissah to handle some
issues in the Central Region of Ghana, I heard the voice of the Lord
instructing me to be like the leper and move to Accra to raise a people of
impact. I held series of discussions with my parents, my uncle who took me
through university and my spiritual father. Finally I was convinced to move to
Accra.
I moved to the city of Accra in
August/September 2006 with the GHC10 my mum gave me. By the time I was done
paying for my bus fare, I was left with GHC4.60p. With no accommodation, the
first place I could lay my head was Gloryland Hotel. How I paid my bills for 3
consecutive days is another story.
In the midst of my challenging homeless
situation, I received help from Nana Ofori Akoto who hosted me in his Kokomlemle
apartment. I never paid bills and my stay with his family was enjoyable.
There was a season when I needed only GHC800
to pay for a one bedroom apartment for 2 years. I came to the city of Accra
without help until a man, Mr. Evans Abiwu gave me GHC400. I still needed GHC400
more.
One morning, I received a call from Mr. Alex
Dey, a business owner who had been blessed by my ministry. We had a
conversation and then I told him I needed money for my accommodation. He
instead offered me accommodation. During my stay with him, he took care of my
bills, feeding and also gave me money for my upkeep. He was also a spiritual
authority over me, gave me counsel, prayed with me, gave me books and helped me
understand the dispensation of the prophetic and ministry as he had seen it in
Ghana.
It was during my stay with one of these men that I started my
scholarship scheme – Bernard Elbernard Scholarship Scheme – with 9 students
from the University of Ghana. As at last year when I decided to shift my focus
from giving scholarships, the scheme had seen over 400 students graduating from
university.
It is
not over yet.
Hold
on! Help is on the way.
10. MY MINISTERIAL
SURVIVAL IN ACCRA
When I started ministry in 2006, God used my friend, Apostle Joshua Amissah to
open a lot of ministerial doors for me. Most of the doors that were opened were
as a result of his direct introduction or outcome of his introduction.
I remember before we were done with
University, with his influence as the President of the University Christian
Fellowship (UCF) i.e. the governing body of all Churches on campus, he gave me
a platform to preach. This introduction gave me access into some denominations
on campus that helped multiply my influence on University of Ghana Campus.
There were other connections and contacts
through him that gave me a platform in some Methodist churches. Ministering in
some of these Methodist churches, I came into contact with two people, Rev.
Joseph Mperey and Rev. Akyerefi.
Rev. Mperey opened doors at COCOBOD Christian
Fellowship and also became a blessing to me financially whenever there was a
need.
Rev. Akyerefi connected me to Rev. Josiah Aubin of
Power Victory Chapel (Mamprobi). During the same period, I had the privilege of
preaching for Bishop Joseph Bart-Plange of Christ Victory Chapel (Teshie –
Nungua / A-Life Supermarket).
Bishop Joseph Bart-Plange and Rev. Josiah
Aubin became a foundational help to my preaching, teaching and prophetic
ministry, as they frequently released their platforms for me to be a blessing
to the people of God.
My contact and connection with Bishop Joseph
Bart-Plange eventually led me to Rev. Samuel Sowah of Weep Not Africa. Rev.
Samuel Sowah became a father figure to me through mentoring, teaching, rebuke
and encouragement. I remember how he would call me during that season when I
had not eaten for days and feed me.
It was through Rev. Samuel Sowah that I
traveled for the first time to minister the Word of God outside of Ghana.
I pray
for you, that during your season of difficulty, God will send the right people
to bring interpretation into your life.
11. THE FOUR BOOKS THAT
HELPED ME DISCOVER MY LIFE’S ASSIGNMENT.
The significance of life is in the discovery of who you are and
what you are called to do. When you discover who you are and what you are
called to do, it influences your focus and confidence. The pursuit of what you
have discovered, will definitely register your name in the company of
greatness.
When I became born again in 1999, I knew I was
an essential part of God’s end time agenda. I knew God had given me everything
I need to be a plus in the lives of many people. As an ambitious young man with
great dreams, I discovered that when your ambition is not in line with God’s
vision for your life, it could lead you to destruction.
One of the most important questions that
shocked me and changed my perspective about life is this: “Did you know that
God created you to solve a problem?” This question brought me to the
realization that, I still had not found the problems I was created to solve.
Everything is created for and with a reason to solve a problem.
I embarked on a search to discover why I was
created, why I was born in Ghana, what I was given, what I could become and the
reason for my existence. I went on this divine search for my purpose with my
Bible, Understanding Vision by Bishop David Oyedepo, The Assignment by Dr. Mike Murdock and In Pursuit of Purpose by Dr. Myles Munroe.
Then on the 31st of August 2002, at the University of Ghana campus
(Akuffo Hall –
Room Number M13), I laid my hands on the golden treasure. I discovered my
life’s assignment!
My life took a different twist and this statement by Dr. Myles
Munroe became a reality in my life: “Your fulfillment in life is dependent on
you becoming and doing what you were born to be and do.”
It is my prayer that someone reading this will
discover his/her purpose and those who have discovered it, will pursue it will
all their strength.
12. THE FOUR MEN OF GOD WHOSE BOOKS AND MATERIALS HAVE INFLUENCED MY
LIFE MORE THAN ANY OTHER ON THIS EARTH, DEAD OR ALIVE.
While I was growing up in ministry, I had access into the lives,
messages and the ministries of several people. I have been blessed by different
men of God from different backgrounds.
However, there are four main men of God whose ministries, books
and other materials have blessed and influenced my life more than any other.
There is no book they have written that I have not read or do not have a
copy.
I was introduced to the books and materials of Bishop David Oyedepo by a friend in
year 1999. The first book I was introduced to was, ‘The Force Of Freedom’. This
book set me on fire in my pursuit for knowledge and liberation. It made me
aware that almost everything works better by knowledge. Since my encounter with
the books and other materials of Bishop David Oyedepo, I have been an
addicted follower of what he says and what he writes. I have all his published
books and other materials.
In year 2000, I got introduced to the books and materials
of Bishop Dag, by my Spiritual
Father, Rev. Ebo Assan. And the first of his
books I read, was ‘Loyalty and Disloyalty‘. After that
encounter, I have been a consistent follower of his messages.
“It is dangerous to be alive and not know why you were given
life.” This is a statement from the book, ‘In Pursuit of Purpose‘ by Dr. Myles Munroe. A friend, Rev.
Raymond Sago, introduced me to the books and materials of Dr. Myles Munroe and gave me a
copy of this book. It was through this book that I was able to discover my
purpose.
My value for honour, gratitude and appreciation was activated
and stirred up by ‘The Law of Recognition‘, a book written
by Dr. Mike Murdock.
We are in a generation
where many people remember, but few genuinely appreciate.
In case you are reading this and are going through times of
trials, I want you to understand that it is just a phase in your life. And
every phase is subject to change.
Chale, ego bi someday!
