RESERVED FOR A GREATER PURPOSE

 

The first chapter of Luke records the story of a woman named Elizabeth.  This woman had been married for many years without a child.  Both she and her husband had given up every hope of having a child since they have advanced in age as well.

Within this period, she would have seen other women who were either her age or even younger give birth to as many children as they wanted.

This was particularly challenging for Elizabeth because being the wife of a priest who enters the inner court of the temple to offer sacrifices to God, people wondered at the delay or her inability to conceive.

But as we understand later from the scriptures that her womb had not been denied of a child, but rather, it had been reserved for a greater purpose of becoming the mother of John the Baptist.

God’s timing is perfect! It may look like He’s late, but He’s right on time!  John’s birth was perfectly timed to play an important role of ushering in the Lamb of God.

Till date, we don’t know the names or the impact of the children that Elizabeth’s contemporaries gave birth to but we still remember John the Baptist!

When we feel that we have been denied of certain things whiles those around us are enjoying them in abundance, it might just be that God has reserved us for a greater purpose.

Maybe you have grown weary in waiting for your dreams to be actualized but hold on because God is actively working behind the scenes while moving things along in His perfect timing.

Remember His timing is not dependent on your circumstances or others’ opinions.  When He is ready to manifest His plans for you, He moves!

You don’t need a lot of contracts to become a multimillionaire.  Just one contract can turn your life around.

Learn to rejoice with those who seem to have gone ahead of you, knowing that you reserved portion awaits you.  You are being reserved for a greater purpose.

Work whiles you wait for God’s timing.  Do all you can with what is before you while you wait in faith for what God has in store.
