Deloris Frimpong Manso (DFM), popularly known as Delay is a Ghanaian business woman, an entrepreneur, television and radio show host, producer and a women's advocate who hails from the Eastern region in a town called Nkawkaw.
The story of Ghana’s sensational and controversial TV
personality DFM tells us that there is always light at the end of every
tunnel. As a young girl she lost her mom
when she was a youngster; her sister and herself struggled and sometimes what
to eat was even a problem.
Somewhere around 2003, she had the opportunity to live
with her aunt because things were difficult for her and as someone will say ‘the
hustle is real’ during those times.
One day she had an argument with her aunt and unfortunately for her,
she was thrown out of the house. She was
stranded and even a place to sleep was a big challenge; she has to find a way
to survive on the street; she ended up staying with a friend in a mechanic shop at Tema Com 2. So after 2 weeks of
living on the street in Tema, she got a call that her mom is very sick so she
quickly left Tema and headed to her hometown in Nkawkaw to take care of her mom.
One day, she got a call from a radio station, (she has
already apply for a job) the good news is they were offering her a job of which
she gladly accepted. Even though her
mom’s health seems not to get better, she devise a strategy; go to work and
come back in the evening to take care of her mom. Unfortunately, she got a call the next day
that her mom had passed away. It really
affected her so much but nevertheless, she never give up. Later she stopped the work and apply for a
different job in a different radio station, Adom fm of which they gave
her a shot but she left Adom fm because she wasn’t paid for her service.
Later, an opportunity knock her door again! This time around it was an audition at
TV3. She was shortlisted among the 5
finalist and later, she was dropped.
Lucky for her, one of the judges at the audition recommended
her to another media house – Oman fm.
She work there for a year and left Oman because she got a better offer
elsewhere as a radio show presenter. She
worked there for a month and was kicked out because she demanded money for her
service but her employer refuse to pay her.
So after all these fortunate and unfortunate moments
in her life, the controversial DELAY SHOW was birthed.
By the grace of God DELAY is a successful business
woman; she owns The DELAY show, Afia Schwarzennagar
Show, Cocoa Brown, DELAY mackerel, and many others.
Delay now owns two mansions at East Legon and she is living comfortably.
Delay started life as a hustler, begging food was the
way to survive for her at some point in her life and now by the Grace of God
she is feeding others.
LESSONS
1. God allow us
to go through certain challenges in order to reveal his glory in our life.
2. You
beginning does not determine your end.
3. God
strategically position certain people in our way to help us – destiny helpers
4. There is no
condition that is permanent; what you may be going through is just for a
particular time. I believe God is still in the business of changing lives.
5. Whatsoever
that you do, do it with all your heart.
You don’t know who is watching you.
Delay was recommended by someone she doesn’t even know.
Her ambition to serve as role model to women in the society doesn’t seem to have any limitation as Delay recently announced her determination to become the first female President in Ghana by 2032. She believes nothing must hinder women from occupying some of the topmost positions in society and be involved in the running of the affairs of the
INCREDIBLE PRINCE
