A man’s gift maketh
room for him, and bringeth him before great men.” [Pro 18:16] David is an example of this
testimony. So what brought this turn around in David’s life that he had the
opportunity to stand by King Saul and to minister to him? Well these are 15 things that will turn the
life of any ordinary man into a man of substance;
1. The anointing of the Holy Spirit. The anointing of God overshadows our limitation and brings God’s strength and favours into our lives that which naturally looked impossible, by the anointing become possible. When the anointing comes upon your life it brings the power of God into manifestation. When the anointing comes upon your life, you begin to operate in the realm of possibility. When the anointing comes upon your life, you become respected in your operation. When the anointing comes upon your life, whatever that covered your life for years will certainly begin to give up. It is the anointing that make you carry value in the realm of the spirit. So the anointing of God on your life is what makes the difference.
2. The power of discipline: discipline is the ability to know what to do at the right time. Until you become discipline in your pursuit of life, you can never receive what belongs to you. You cannot progress effectively in the place of disorder. With discipline, you know when to wake up, when to work, when to sleep and what to do at any point in time. “Discipline is the bridge between goals and accomplishment” Jim Rohn
3. Being skilled and competent in your area of operation. If you want to receive a turnaround then you must be exceptional in your field of operation. When the servant of Saul were looking for men to play good music for him so that when the evil spirit of God comes upon King Saul, he will be refreshed through the music. But Saul's servants weren’t looking for any man - they were looking for skillful, competent and a cunning man. I think David was not the only harp player or the only musician – there were several others. So what will make you sell in the market place is not only your religious belief (faith) but your ability to develop your skills and your competencies in what you do.
4. The power of introduction and recommendation. Everyone is a person away from breakthrough. David was gifted but he was still hidden – he needed certain men to introduce him to the palace. “… I have seen the son of Jesse the Bethlehemite that is cunning in playing the harp, and a mighty valiant man…” that recommendation pulls David from the field to the palace. So live your life bearing in mind that someone is watching you. [SOMEONE IS WATCHING]
5. The ability to take risk. Many are not in the place of glory because they could not take risk. Life is full of risk – if you are going to have a turnaround then you need to take risk. If you don’t take risk in starting that business, in 10 years it might be too late. "The luckiest people and businesses are those that are prepared to take the greatest risks. We can all create our own luck by taking the necessary risks to open the door to change, progression and success." [Virgin.com]
6. Wherever you go or whenever you find yourself, you are there to add value. Until you can answer other people’s questions, they will never come to you with their questions. Until you have what it takes to provide the solutions to the world, the world will not bring it problem. If our lives is going to be better, then we need to carry answers. People will need you because of what you carry.
7. The power of developed gifts. “A man’s gift maketh room for him, and bringeth him before great men.” [Pro 18:16] Learn to develop your giftings – it will take you far.
8. The ability to maximize opportunities. David was introduced to an opportunity to showcase his talent and he maximize it very well. There are a lot of opportunities around us and if you can see them and maximize them, your life will turn around. “Opportunities are usually disguised as hard work, so most people don’t recognize them.” Ann Landers
9. The power of decision. We are the products of the decisions we make on daily basis. Our decisions is what has brought us here. The glory of your future is connected to the quality of the decisions you take today. The quality of your life is connected to the quality of decisions you are taking today. Learn to take good decisions by comparing it with the word of God. “Your life changes the moment you make a new, congruent, and a committed decisions.” Tone Robbins
10. The power of diligence. If you want a turnaround, be diligent in whatever you do. “Have you seen a man diligent in his work, he will stand before great men and not mere men” [Pro 22:29]
11. The power of purpose discovery. Every turnaround is rooted in what you are supposed to do in life. For instance if you are called into ministry but you want to veer into the politics, you will struggle because you are like a square peg trying to fit in a round hole. You know that’s impossible. “Having a purpose makes it impossible to merely exist. When you have a definite reason for living, a “why” behind every action, your passions and talents will drive you toward a happy, fulfilling destination. [success.com]
12. Obeying the principles of life; life is full of principles – when we obey principles the outcome becomes predictable. An example is the power of savings. You cannot be rich if you are spending all your monies today. You have to save for the future else you will be poor.
13.
The power of continuous learning. Everything
you have been looking for is hidden in your ability to learn. We learn from
books, taking heed to instructions, and from experience. ‘By three methods we may learn wisdom: First, by
reflection, which is noblest; Second, by imitation, which is easiest; and third
by experience, which is the bitterest.’ –Confucius
14. Building a solid network of relationships. David built a network with Saul’s servant that is why they recommended him to Saul. Your network they say determines your networth. “Networking is simply the cultivating of mutually beneficial, give and take, win-win relationships. It works best, however, when emphasizing the “give” part.” Bob Burg
15. Making financial independence your passion. Financial independence is very important but to some of us when ‘how to make money’ is mentioned, we get uncomfortable. It is popularly accepted that we should follow our passion but many follow their passion but are still poor. Many are fulfilled but still poor. It is good for us to create multiple streams of income so that you don’t box yourself to only source of income. #Money is a defence.
