STORIES FROM HIGH PLACES
THE YOUNG PASTOR WHO WAS MOCKED, RIDICULED AND REJECTED BY SENIOR MINISTERS.
Many years ago, there was a young medical student who sensed the calling of God upon his life. Due to this calling, he prepared himself in every way and started a ministry in the capital of the country he resides. During the early days of his ministry, many people did not give him a chance and were unwilling to associate with him.
Around that same time, there was a mega revival in the city with other senior men of God he wanted to associate with. This man of God recounts how difficult it was to break out in ministry in that time and how he felt intimidated by these senior ministers who command crowds of people and seemed so powerful.
He recounts how he was mocked and rejected when he made several efforts to be accepted and also seek for help.
There was a day he went to meet a senior man of God in the city. This senior man of God accepted him graciously but when he started talking, the medical student wished he had never gone there to see him.
Instead of this senior man of God helping him, he rather sent his associate pastor to start a crusade right where he had started his church.
During the program, they showed a video of this senior man of God’s ministry and this medical doctor felt dismayed for even trying to start a church.
There was another time he invited another well known pastor to minister in his baby church.. This pastor had preached for them on several occasions. This time around, he declined the invitation which was sent through this young minister’s pastor on grounds that he has stopped ‘sowing among thorns’
Today, this young minister is a Bishop and his ministry has several branches in the country within which his ministry is situated. His church is now considered one of the biggest charismatic churches in that country with over 3000 branches across Africa, Europe, Asia, The Caribbean and South America.
LESSONS:
Do not underestimate the power of small beginnings. Every great establishment, organization, business or ministry you see today was once small.
You lose the opportunity to be part of the success story of anyone you look down upon today or refuse to help.
Never allow yourself to be intimidated by someone’s story. Understand that your focus and diligence in pursuit of your discovered assignment will bring you to the arena of testimonies.
Whatever anyone has become or achieved is a proof of what you can also become.
When you know the vision is from God, no matter the hurdles you face, keep pursuing that vision.
Your commitment to that which God has called you to do will only manifest when you believe in yourself and in what God has called you into.
Know that you will face a lot of disappointments on your way to greatness but your ability to persevere will pay off.
When God says something about your life, believe that He will bring it to fruition. Trust His word and trust the process.
