REDEFINING THE VIRTUOUS WOMAN

As a single lady who is looking forward to entering into a relationship or marriage, it’s very important to brand yourself in order to stand out from the crowd. I am talking about being virtuous. A virtuous woman or lady is priceless, she is an asset and blessing to her man. Her value is more precious than gold and silver. The following define a virtuous woman:

A virtuous woman is a resource and not a liability: she is a creative, innovative and an industrious smart lady. This woman knows her worth…she opens her mouth in wisdom and has good understanding. Because she is smart and wise, she brings honor to her husband and their home is a peaceful one. She also support her husband financially. She is simply flawless in every aspect. “She does him good and not evil all the days of her life.”  Pro 31:12

She is hardworking: A virtuous woman is a hardworking lady. If she is not a career woman she has her own business or skills through which she makes money to support her children if she has one and herself. “She seeks wool and flax and willingly works with her hands.” Pro 31:13, “She makes line garments and sells them, and supplies sashes for the merchants.” Pro 31:24

Sacrifice: “she rises while it is yet night, and provides food for her household, and a portion for her maidservant.”  Pro 31:15 A virtuous woman sacrifices so many things to make her family happy. It can be working extra hours to earn money to pay for school fees, or to buy dress for her children or waking up early to sell in the market or better still taking two or more jobs to save money to build a house.

She is generous: A virtuous woman thinks about the well-being of others aside her family. She is willing to show kindness to all men and even strangers. In Gen 24, we recount how Rebecca treated some strangers with humility and kindness. She gave water to strangers with her own pot and even gave some to their donkeys—that is a virtuous woman.  She extends her hand to the poor; yes she reaches out her hands to the needy.” Pro 31:20

She is a leader and a watchman: A virtuous woman has some innate trait of leadership ability. Her leadership ability is seen by the way she trains and nurture her children. While her husband travels, she take charge and control her household. “She watches out the way of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness.” Pro 31:27

Lastly, she brings honor to her husband: A virtuous woman brings honor to the husband because of her good attitude. She is smart, hardworking, humble, and flawless in every aspect of her life. “Her children rise and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her: Many daughters have done well, but you excel them all.” Pro 31:28-29
